Shop Review: Knit Dallas

Last week, my husband and I had a little weekend getaway to Dallas, and while we were there, I visited Knit Dallas. It was a lovely time!

Knit Dallas is a trendy, boutique-like yarn shop that focuses on higher end yarns. They carry lots of hand-dyed options, a fair number of local yarn producers, and seem focused on wool (although that might be a seasonal thing). They also carry a surprisingly large selection of lace weight mohair from various hand dye companies. The space is organized and well-lit. The staff was cheerful, helpful, accommodating, and friendly, despite the store being busy, due to the North Texas Yarn Crawl happening that weekend.

I purchased three skeins of yarn and a cable needle.  The first was a skein of laceweight mohair from Wander Luck Yarns.  I've worked with yarn from Wander Luck in the past, having purchased a different skein of laceweight mohair from the company's booth at the DFW Fiber Fest in 2022.  They are a Texas dyer, and I love their colorways. The skein I bought and Knit Dallas is for a pattern project I have coming up in a few months.

The second was a skein of Comb Feathers, a DK weight wool/silk blend from Chicken Coop Dyeworks. They are another Texas dyer, but I had never heard of them before.  Judging from the selection at Knit Dallas, their colors are vibrant and cheerful.  I plan to use it to make a sweater for the baby I'm expecting later this year.

The third skein I bought was an impulse buy. It is a skein of Cirro from The Fibre Company, and is a suri/cotton/merino blend.  It's a brushed yarn that's very soft, and I love the color. I have no plans for this one yet, but I like petting it.

The cable needle is simply a spiral.  I've never seen one like it before, so it seemed like a fun novelty. I look forward to testing it out in the near future.

Visiting Knit Dallas was a fun experience, and I look forward to shopping there again.
