Welcome to the first pattern of the year here at Stitch Whisper Designs!
My kids love my Monster Baby Socks, so I've started making bigger versions at their request. With pointed toes on the end and an instep pattern that resembles scales, these whimsical slippers are inspired by Maurice Sendak’s children’s classic, Where the Wild Things Are. I'm not sure how I keep circling back to Maurice Sendak as a design inspiration, but here we are!
This pattern is a good introduction to sock construction, made with aran weight yarn, on size 6 (4 mm) needles. Instructions are provided for four sizes: small child, large child, small adult, and large adult. There’s nothing cozier than a soft pair of slipper socks when the weather is cold.
