Needlework Update: Third Quarter

The third quarter of 2024 is wrapping up.  At the end of last quarter, I set myself these goals:

I did succeed in publishing three more patterns in the Stitch Whisper Designs Etsy Shop. The Spot Purse was a pattern I had been planning on all year, but the other two weren't. The Quick and Easy Baby Blanket is made using the same basic initial structure as the Spot Purse, just made bigger and not sewn or felted.  Once I made that, though, I needed something easy to work on, and I needed to do a knitted pattern, so on a whim, I made the Spider Web Baby Blanket.

I also succeeded in converting a free pattern from this blog into a printable.  I republished the Kid's Neck Gaiter, which is a short, knitted scarf that buttons around the neck.  I also published a Basic Baby Cap (crocheted).

As for my son's blanket, I've made significant progress on that.  I did not get to the halfway point, but I have made about 40% of it, and it's coming along quite nicely.

The baby booties and the coaster set have both been pushed back as priorities. I decided I wasn't quite happy with the Mishka baby hats I made last quarter for my friend's twins, so, at the last minute, I made a pair of matching baby sweaters.  They are also prototypes for an upcoming pattern that you all will see next year. I've also been working on a new mitten pattern, which will be published in the next few weeks. There's nothing wrong with the hats. They're just a little big for a newborn gift (I made the larger size, and my gauge was off), so into the donation bag they go!

When it comes to charity stitching, a lot of my samples do end up in my donation bag, but I try to work on something else on my charity stitching days. I haven't been as consistent as I've been in the past about doing dedicated charity stitching every week, but I have been making bonding squares (actually, they're circles, but whatever) for Today Is A Good Day. Right now, my charity project is a pair of baby pants from Heart Hook Home that have a really fun construction.  I'll be writing a review of that pattern soon.

For the fourth quarter of the year, here are my goals:
  • Publish the last three patterns for the year
  • Publish at least one free pattern
  • Finish my son's blanket
  • Make a pair of Entrelac Booties for the baby
  • Make the Rug Me Up Hooded Jacket for the baby
  • Start working on the Patricia Kristofferson coaster set
  • Make an instructional video for the blog
  • Continue weekly charity stitching
    • Send box to the Rosebud Reservation
    • Send box to Today Is A Good Day
    • Make dishcloths for the local foodbank, ahead of Thanksgiving
Onward!
