Stitch Whisper Designs Free Pattern Roundup

Over the years, Practical Crocheter and I have shared several free patterns on this blog.  This week, I thought I'd share the ten most popular. Most of the free patterns here are simply published as blog posts.  I'm gradually editing them and turning them into printable pdfs.

• Practical Crocheter's Revised Crocheted Sock is by far our most popular pattern.  In fact, it's our most popular post. The page views for this pattern actually make up almost 10% of our all-time page views. These socks are worked from the toe up and have an afterthought heel. The instructions include information for multiple gauges, sizes, and sock styles/lengths.

• The Pixie Slipper is another all-time favorite post.  Since it is made from a square, it can also be made in any yarn and any size, and it's a great quick project for some mindless stitching, a last-minute gift, or for charity stitching.  And if you are interested in variations on the Pixie Slipper, you can also find it, other related patterns, and lots of information in the slipper collection we have for sale in the Stitch Whisper Designs Etsy Shop.

• Practical Crocheter's Quick Diagonal Scarf is another excellent last-minute project.  The original post has been extremely popular over the years, but I converted it to a pdf this last spring, and you can find that through the first link.

• My Broomstick Lace Bookmark makes a quick gift and is a fun way to experiment with bringing broomstick lace forward from the 1970's.  I'm hoping to have this one converted to pdf, along with some newer photos, before the end of the year.

• Practical Crocheter's Wrist Warmers are another quick project, and they are worked C2C.  These wrist warmers are both easy to make and attractive to wear.

• Then there are the Knitted Fingerless Mitts and Mittens I worked up for my younger kids last year.  This pattern is a free pdf, and the mitts work up quickly on chunky yarn and with built in i-cord to connect them to each other.

• The Kitchen Kloth Kollection includes six different dishcloth patterns Practical Crocheter has shared in various posts here over the years. They are fun to crochet and play around with different ideas ad stitches.

• This blog post actually includes two free patterns, which Practical Crocheter wrote up to go with some samples she made with a chunky chenille.  The first is a square pillow that doubles as an owl plushie, and the second is a nice, soft, slouchy hat.

• The Basket Case Potholder was a fun exercise in working basketweave stitch in the round. Once you have a feel for the increase technique, you can apply that to other projects. In the meantime, the potholder makes a nice gift, when paired with some nice serving spoons or gourmet condiments.

• The Wagon Wheel Potholder is sort of a companion piece to the Basket Case Potholder. It's also the swatch that led to the Top Down Waffle Stitch Hat and the Round Waffle Stitch Baby Blanket, which are both available in the Etsy shop.  The increases are a little tricky, so I also did an instructional video that goes with it.
