Free Pattern! Round Dishcloth (Crochet)

I'm deep in my annual project to make dishcloths to donate to my local foodbank (each attached to a bottle of dish soap). A couple years ago, I discovered that I really like using half double crochet for dishcloths, and I've been playing with that ever since. My current favorite is this round one, and I've written up the pattern. It's quick and easy and makes a cloth about the size of my hand, which is what I prefer when I use homemade cloths to clean my own dishes or to wipe down tables or counters.

If you are looking for quick projects to donate, I highly encourage you to give dishcloths and dish soap to your local foodbank as well through the Each Stitch Counts Project, or to make soap-saver bags to donate with bar soap to your local homeless or women's shelter through the S.A.C.K Program. You can find lots of patterns (both knit and crochet) through their website. When money is tight, occasional expenses, such as soap and other cleaning products can easily break the grocery budget, especially if you are trying to maintain a sense of normalcy during the holiday season, and shelters often struggle to maintain a ready supply of hygiene products for those they serve.
