My current personal project is an entrelac sock pattern. Regnbue Raggies, from Strikkgaern, has been on my Ravelry queue for years, and I finally got around to making it. The only difficulty is that the pattern is in Norwegian, and I don't know Norwegian. I figured I would use Google Translate and a Norwegian/English chart of knitting terms to translate the pattern. Since I've done entrelac before, and the photos in the pattern are pretty good that should be adequate.
When I ran the pattern through Google Translate, the result was clunky, but useable, and combining that with my own prior experience was sufficient to muddle through sock-making without too much guesswork. While doable, I would not describe working through the pattern that way as easy.
Then I told my husband about the project. He likes playing around with AI, so he asked me to send him the pattern. He ran the pdf through Grok and sent the result back to me. Grok's result was a useable knitting pattern that reads as though it had been written as an English knitting pattern to start with. The only thing Grok didn't change for me was switching from metric to imperial, which is really easy to do on my own.
So, if you have a pattern that you want to try, but it's written in a language you don't know, it might be worthwhile to ask an AI to translate it for you. It certainly can't hurt!
