This practical felted purse is one of Mary Rhodes' designs. Made starting with a large octagon, it's called the Spot Purse because laying the octagon out on the floor reminded her of portable "holes" in Roadrunner cartoons. Mary wrote multiple posts several years ago describing her creative process with this purse, and now it's been compiled into step-by-step instructions with lots of photos.
Made in worsted weight wool, this purse is practical and easy to wear. The construction is modular, so while there is some sewing, the bag is made in one piece. And while the sample I made put the small pockets on the outside, which is more convenient for me, the pockets can just as easily go inside the main compartment.
